The Strategy Map is the main dashboard view in CompassHQ. It shows an interactive node graph connecting your quarterly goals to projects and the teams responsible for them.
How It Works
The Strategy Map is generated automatically from your quarters, goals, and projects. There is no separate “create a strategy map” step — the map is built from data you already manage.
- Create a quarter via Admin > Quarters (e.g., “Q1 2026”).
- Add goals to the quarter (e.g., “Improve deployment reliability”).
- Create projects and assign them to teams (e.g., “Automated rollback implementation”).
- Link projects to goals to establish the connection.
The Strategy Map then renders all of this as an interactive graph.
Reading the Strategy Map
The map displays three types of nodes:
- Goal nodes — Represent quarterly objectives. Color-coded by the goal’s assigned color.
- Project nodes — Show individual projects with their current status (not started, in progress, blocked, completed) and confidence score.
- Team lanes — Group projects by the team responsible for them.
Edges connect goals to their linked projects, colored to match the goal for easy visual tracing.
Filtering by Team
Use the team filter dropdown at the top of the dashboard to focus the map on a single team’s goals and projects. This is useful for team-level reviews and standups.
Interacting with the Map
- Click a project node to open the project detail panel, which shows the project summary, linked goals, confidence score, and pulse history.
- Click a goal node to highlight all projects connected to that goal.
- The map layout is computed automatically using the ELK layout engine for clean, readable positioning.
Quarter Selection
Use the quarter selector to view the strategy map for any past or current quarter. The dashboard defaults to the current quarter based on today’s date.
