CompassHQ is most useful when your entire engineering organization has access. This guide explains how to invite team members, assign roles, and manage permissions.
Sending Invitations
- Go to Settings > Members in CompassHQ.
- Click Invite Members.
- Enter one or more email addresses, separated by commas.
- Select the role you want to assign to each invitee (you can change roles later).
- Click Send Invitations.
Invitees receive an email with a link to create their account. Invitations expire after seven days, but you can resend them from the Members page at any time.
Role Types
CompassHQ uses three roles to control what each member can see and do:
Admin
- Full access to all settings, integrations, and billing.
- Can invite and remove members, change roles, and manage teams.
- Can configure delivery profiles and DORA metric thresholds.
- Best suited for engineering leadership and platform team leads.
Manager
- Can view all dashboards, metrics, and reports.
- Can create and edit teams, assign repositories, and configure surveys.
- Cannot modify billing, integrations, or organization-level settings.
- Best suited for engineering managers and team leads.
Member
- Can view dashboards, metrics, and survey results for teams they belong to.
- Cannot create or edit teams, integrations, or organization settings.
- Best suited for individual contributors who want visibility into their team’s performance.
Managing Existing Members
To change a member’s role or remove them from the organization:
- Go to Settings > Members.
- Find the member in the list.
- Use the role dropdown to change their role, or click Remove to revoke access.
Role changes take effect immediately. Removed members lose access on their next page load.
