A delivery profile defines what “good” looks like for your team. It captures your expected deployment frequency, release schedule, and acceptable thresholds so CompassHQ can measure actual performance against your stated intent.
What a Delivery Profile Contains
Each delivery profile includes settings for the metrics your team cares about:
- Deployment frequency target — How often you expect to deploy (e.g., daily, twice per week, weekly).
- Release schedule — For teams that ship on a fixed cadence, you can define specific release windows. CompassHQ then tracks your release hit rate against that schedule.
- Lead time threshold — The maximum acceptable time from first commit to production.
- Change failure rate ceiling — The percentage of failed deployments your team considers acceptable.
- Recovery time target — How quickly you expect to recover from production incidents.
Configuring a Delivery Profile
- Navigate to Settings > Delivery Profiles.
- Click Create Profile and give it a descriptive name (e.g., “Platform Team - Weekly Releases”).
- Set your targets for each metric. You can leave metrics blank if they do not apply to your team.
- Assign the profile to one or more teams or service groups.
- Click Save.
CompassHQ supports both continuous deployment (CD) workflows, where you track deployment frequency, and scheduled release workflows, where you track whether releases land on time.
Performance Indicators
Once a profile is active, CompassHQ evaluates each metric and assigns one of four performance levels:
- Exceeding — Your team is consistently beating the target.
- On Track — Performance is within the expected range.
- At Risk — Recent trends suggest you may miss the target soon.
- Missing — The target has not been met for the current period.
These indicators appear on your DORA dashboard and in weekly summary reports, giving your team a clear signal without requiring manual calculation.
